The Authority is governed by a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor at five year terms. The Board is responsible for preserving and expanding the agency’s resources and assuring the agency’s continued viability and success. One Commissioner must be a recipient of housing assistance with the Housing Authority of the City of Bessemer. Formal actions of the Housing Authority of the City of Bessemer are taken through written resolutions, adopted by the Board and entered into the official records of the Housing Authority.
Regular meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 5:00pm at 1520 Exeter Avenue in Bessemer, AL. Pursuant to Alabama Act No. 2005-40, notice is given to the general public as invitation to attend.
