Building Maintenance Mechanic

Principle job functions include:

  1. Performs maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general repair, vacancy preparation, preventive maintenance, and related disciplines.
  1. Performs specialized tasks based on abilities that may include HVAC repair, electrical repair, plumbing repair, or upper-level carpentry tasks. Also, may provide instruction to other staff members.
  1. Manages and organizes assigned work orders efficiently. Ensures that all work orders are completed and closed in a timely manner.
  1. Recommends the referral of work to contractors, when appropriate. This may include grounds maintenance, painting, cleaning, vacancy preparation, pest control, or equipment maintenance.
  1. Recommends the assessment of charges to resident accounts for work outside of normal wear and tear in accordance with the dwelling lease.
  1. Supports the Maintenance Supervisor or Director of Facilities in the management, receipt, and completion of all work orders. Ensures the completion of Emergency Work Orders within 24 hours and the timely management and completion of all other work orders received.

The following are minimum qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:

  • Experience working in building maintenance trades, including, plumbing/gas, electrical, HVAC/refrigeration and carpentry.
  • Work experience performing maintenance tasks by inspecting, installing and repairing building systems and equipment to ensure that the building is safe, secure and comfortable for the occupants.
  • Work experience troubleshoots problems with systems and equipment by inspecting and testing the equipment and ensures that any necessary repairs are made so that the systems and equipment are functioning as intended and no other damage will occur.
  • Craftsman’s Certification (i.e., Plumbing/Gas, Electrical, HVAC, Refrigeration)
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license.

YouthBuild Case Manager

 

Principle job functions include:

  1. Contact, receive and review referrals for the YouthBuild Program from local entities such as schools, community-based organizations, and government agencies, including walk-ins.
  2. Participates and coordinates in outreach activities include making presentations to non-profit organizations, government agencies, probation/parole staff, schools, and community events.
  3. Conduct program orientation and intake.
  4. Conduct individual needs assessments of basic needs.
  5. Develop an Individual Service Plan identifying barriers to employment and action steps to address those barriers.
  6. Assist youth with enrollment into program services.
  7. Assist with facilitation of employment readiness, leadership, and life skills workshops.
  8. Track youth participation in each program component (educational, construction, CNA, counseling, leadership development, employment readiness, and life skills workshops).
  9. Meet with youth on an individual basis at least bi-weekly to monitor progress in each program component.
  10. Build relationships with community-based organizations and government agencies to promote collaboration, solve problems, and identify resources for youth.
  11. Provide information and referrals for youth who cannot participate in the program due to eligibility criteria or limited program capacity.
  12. Follow program procedures regarding recordkeeping, documentation, confidentiality, and case files.
  13. Collaborate and confer with staff as appropriate to coordinate services and implement the program.
  14. Meet weekly with other youth employment staff to plan activities, strategize on service delivery, and other activities as needed to further program goals.
  15. Assist with fulfilling grant and contract requirements for the program.
  16. Participate in program evaluation process.
  17. Facilitate and coordinate life skills workshops and activities for participants.
  18. Utilize case management applications/update case management notes documentation

The following are minimum qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:

  • Experience collaborating with community-based organizations and government agencies to identify resources for youth.
  • Experience facilitating and coordinating life skills workshops and activities for YouthBuild participants.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college with a degree in social work, education, counseling, community development or equivalent experience equal to this degree.
  • Valid Alabama driver's license.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel with occasional overnight stays.
